Flanked by a hillock on one side and having a fairly flat though slightly undulating terrain, the site chosen for the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya at Bhopal in Madhyapradesh admeasures 250 hectares in area. The proposed design for this institute constituted a central North-South spine along which the various facets of the university are strung nodally. To combat the harsh climate and the barrenness of the site, an ecological park has been proposed all along the periphery of the site, encompassing the structures within to create a micro-climate within the campus.
